Two Weeks ago we opened with great fanfare. E mail blasts went out to 1000. Our friends, new and old, and acquaintances from our network of the community came to support. The press was notified, social media is buzzing, and even though it was on the heels of the Boston Public Market opening at Haymarket, our opening is still newsworthy. An article about us and our store appeared on the front page of the Brookline Tab a few days ago. Title was catchy: “Coolidge Corner to Strike Oil“!
First of all we love our customers. They love to chat. Who is shopping and what are they buying? All ages, all ethnic groups, people walking by. The density of population from apartments and homes in our new neighborhood is a retailer’s dream. Lots of connections too as everyone knows someone we know. We’re making new friends around the common theme that we all love to eat, and talk about food.
Every day we bring out a multitude of items to taste. What is our customer saying as they come in the door?
“It smells good in here”
“Wow, what a great space, there is so much to look at”
“This place could be dangerous”
“I’m coming back” “I need to spend more time here”
“I like the ‘hunt’, reading labels, knowing how to use the product, new tastes”
“Thank you for opening here, Brookline needed a store like this”
“Got home and here is what I ate that I bought at your store: French bread drizzled with meyer lemon olive oil and homemade humus/French bread drizzled with kalamata olive oil, homemade humus and olive paste/Tomatoes drizzled with kalamata olive oil, salt and pepper
“When will your events start?” (‘working on it’ is my answer)
