Sofi Award Winners
YIPEE that WE at the Olive Connection have in our store a few of the products that won the Sofi Awards from the Fancy Food Show in New York this week. Since 1972, the Sofi Awards have helped the Specialty Food Association advance culinary excellence and creativity worldwide by recognizing the outstanding work of its artisans. It is an honor to win and also an honor to be a finalist…want to share the good news.The Winners you will see at our store are:

Honorees are chosen by a national panel of culinary experts in a blind tasting. Those that merge as Sofi Winners and Finalists serve as ambassadors for the industry and represent the best the industry has to offer. The Honorees that you will see in our store are:

Seka Hills California Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Vermont Creamery Bonne Bouche goat cheese

Artisanal Ketchup-Black Truffle
Morry and I also attended a 3 day Olive Oil Education class and tasted so many oils our taste buds were fried. We trained our brains and palates to recognize subtle tastes and flavors. How to recognize the taste of stone fruits, tomato, artichoke, bean, bitterness, pepper and heat. How to categorize the oil as delicate, moderate, and bold and to recognize rancidity. The test at the end was difficult to say the least. We were quiet and serious. We both earned our completion certificates.
